Good Design = High Selling (?)

As a graphic studio working on many brands, we are often embarked on a godly question from our clients. “Will my sales be struck higher after we create a fancy logo?”, “Will your so-called good typography sense help my annual revenue climb higher?”, “Will this new packaging double my income this month?”, and so on, and so on..

If we may recall this to other design studios or agencies out there, this might be a tricky question!

To straightening this simple, we are going to do a simple daily analogy. How many times you bump to someone, namely any men/women, who are blessed to be beautiful, great postures, great personality, yet hard to find his/her romantic match? Of course, there will be MANY reasons to answer WHY. But one thing for sure, no matter how beautiful you are, without good “exposure” to others, you WILL remain unknown.

Branding has evolved way beyond anything we imagine yesterday. We live in a world where branding itself has becoming more of a life itself than just pure “brand”. So back to the question whether good design may increase the selling, we believe that design supposed to be something that integrate all the way to the corporation blood and vessel. Design should comprise every basic step, every persona, yet the personality that the product or the company itself want to achieve.

Let’s take a look on one the world’s most advanced corporation who took design very seriously nowadays. The Apple Corp. Starting from just an underdog company, they cleverly managed their branding design so that it manifest in everything they does, from the typography, layout, overall graphic design, packaging, to product design, to architecture, even to their assistant in their so called Genius Bar.

Not just Apple, Google has managed to do those things very very cleverly these days. That’s why sometimes we hear sayings like, “Oh that’s looks a bit like Apple Stuff” or “Wanna know what cempedak is? Just google it!”

So back to the godly question before.. The answer lies more than just a short answer on yes or no, but rather on how much are you willing to make your brand stand out real high, high enough to gain high profit! A good design definitely always be there to support you..
